Persona Poem

My head hurts at the end of the day from dirty hands holding my head and neck
My hair gets shaved and broken
shaved and broken
My feet are worn at the end of the day from helping students with words
writing and erasing
writing and erasing
writing and erasing
When I am not in use I sit in a dark corner waiting to be used

Nebraska Weather

Snow slowly falling softly on the well farmed ground
Hearing the wind blow debris around during the storm
Hot summers
Cold winters
Living the good life in Nebraska, the land of crazy weather

Weather Poem

Snowstorm

Biting at your fingers
Crisp air whirling around
Staying warm in a winter coat
Snowballs flying through the air
Children hiding in forts made of fluffy white powder
Everyone goes in side as the sun slowly sets on this waste land of snow

Extended Metaphor

Fear
is a mountain
hard to destroy
as they grow higher
and higher in my soul
Trapping me in the cold wet snow
Slowly making it hard to breathe
Slowly corroding my deep intensive soul
But I will fight them; I will break the chains
Slowly; Carefully; Dangerously; As I walk on the
Edge of my comfort zone in this difficult world

Found Poem

We all abandoned hope in the Days of Death
We felt society change you
You are the killer of my dreams, Death
and you are the image of evil
I will fight for the victims
of your injustice.
Even in suffering
Even
in
Suffering

Acrostic

Colors

Children find there favorites
Others than what is in the rainbow
Loving every single one
Open for all to chose
Realizing what they mean
Savoring them when you see them in the world

Name Poem

Samantha
It means smart, listener, creative
It is the number 14
It is calm, cool, like a river
It is singing to your favorite song with your friends
It is the memory of Wesly
Who taught me valor and strength
When he continues through a hard time
My name is Samantha
It means trusting God all the time.

Motivator Poster

Friendship is very important to me. In the movie “Blindsight”, friendship is shown when Tashi  and Tenzin open the only blind massage clinic together in Tibet. It is also shown in the ways of the guides. The guides helped the kids in a way that is like a friend by guiding them up and back down Mt. Everest. Friendship relates to my life because my friends helped make me who I am today. They taught me many things and I helped them in return. My friends are very kind and I don’t know what I would do without my friends in my life.

American Freedom

American Freedom
Did you know that 5.3 billion people face harsh religious freedom restrictions? There are also over 15 countries that have restrictions on religion. This is extremely sad. I am an American who has the freedom to attend the church of my choice. People often forget what freedom means, how they are free, and what others have said about freedom.
Freedom is what allows me to be here to day. It does not mean you can do what ever you want.  According to the New Oxford American Dictionary freedom means having the power to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint. Life has many restrictions, some are hard to remember but, others are for your own safety. I want all people to be free but there are always consequences to your actions.
I am free today because of the soldiers that fought and are fighting for us today. I have freedom in many different areas.  I have religious freedom which gives me the right to practice whatever religion I choose. I also have the freedom of speech which  gives me the right to express any opinions without censorship.
America is the of image freedom. In the words of James A Garfield “For the love of their country, they accepted death.” This means that the soldiers that fought for their country, loved it so much that they died. In the words of Malcolm X “Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you are a man, you take it.” In the words of Thomas Campbell “The patriot’s blood is the seed of Freedom’s tree.” All of these quotes reminded us that Freedom is not free!

In conclusion, I hope you remember these three things: what freedom is, that you are free and there are many quotes that describe freedom. Remember when you leave your house someone else might not have the freedom you have. Make sure you thank a service member for their sacrifice when you see them. I hope you remember why you are free because of the veterans that lost their life for you.

Adverb Poem

Bob the Candy Corn
Bob the Candy Corn walks straightly
Bob the Candy Corn walks straightly, colorfully
Walks straightly, colorfully, happily
Straightly, colorfully, happily, excitedly
When kids are trick or treating

My Ghost Story

Did you know that 45% of people believe in ghosts? Well, 85% of the students at O’Neill High School do believe. That is because, if you are happy you might see Smiling Suzy skipping through the halls. Smiling Suzy is a 13 year old eighth grade girl who is always kind. She died from smiling to much. It may be sad and odd but it is true. She still loves to smile anyway.

Smiling Suzy is always carefree. You normally see her sitting in the band room playing people’s instruments, stealing their music, and helping kids write in notes. Her favorite instrument is the tenor saxophone. She wears bright T-shirts and jeans. She also has dazzling white teeth. Suzy is small, four foot six, and is always laughing. Her laugh is a giggle and she talks with a high pitched voice. No matter what time of year it is she is always perfectly tan as if it were the middle of summer. She also   always smells like vanilla icing. Suzy wears her long blonde hair in a high ponytail.
Even if you're sad, she come over and try to help you. Even if she is in the biggest rush to get to the band room before class starts, she always has time to stop and help you. Whether it be pick up your books or help you open the lock on your locker, she is always there to help.

The teachers can’t see Smiling Suzy, but the students wish they could. Remember if you come to O’Neill Senior High School, be untroubled and you might see Smiling Suzy skipping through the stairwells.

Hogwarts Halloween Feast

Samantha
Period 3
October 17, 2014

When I soared into the Great Hall, I smelled the pungent aroma of food. As I hovered  among the floating pumpkins and bats, thunder roared from the celling. I always love flying near the bewitched celling because it makes me feel as if I were gliding outside.
Then I spied Harry, Ron and Hermione. They were devouring roasted and mashed potatoes, lamb chops, pork chops, and many more flavorful foods. I miss eating. Now, all I do is get heavy books thrown at me! Harry and his friends had just completed eating. The plates were suddenly cleared and dessert was severed. There was rice pudding, chocolate eclairs, apple pies and a pile various blocks of ice cream.

The Halloween Feast is one of my favorite times of the year because of all the enjoyment going on. The students are outside playing Quidditch and inside playing hide ’n’ seek. All of the ghosts, including me, Moaning Myrtle, love to frighten the students. I hope next year is even better!

Revised Nursery Rhyme

"Wee Willie Winkie”
by Mother Goose

Wee Willie Winkie scurries through the silent town,
Upstairs and downstairs in his purple nightgown,
Rapping at the frosted window, Squalling loudly through the lock,

"Are the children in their warm beds, for now it's eight of the clock?"

An Unforgettable School Day

Unforgettable School Day
Have you ever gotten a wonderful grade? I did on a brisk, March day in my Kindergarten math class. I waited for Mrs. Evans to start class. Little did I know  that this very class would change my life.
Math was third hour of the day. I sat at table four along with Braxton, Sierra, and Cody. First we counted to 60 by ones. Then, we counted by tens to 70.  Then, we had our lesson: counting to 80 by tens. Mrs. Evans handed out our worksheet for that day’s lesson. She strictly told us to get underway.
Next, she started to pass out our papers from the day before. She handed out table one’s. Then tables two and three. Finally, Mrs. Evans got to table four. She finished passing out the papers. Mine was the very last paper.
The paper was placed face down on the table and was taunting me. I turned it over and looked at my grade written in bright crimson ink. I couldn’t convince my mind that this was real. My grade was so amazing that I felt like I was soaring.
As soon as I got home, I showed my mom the paper. She was so proud of me for getting a 100% on my assignment. I will never forget this day and the lesson it taught me. Try hard and you will succeed.

My Bedroom

My Bedroom

Here is my room. Beneath my coat rack, that is over flowing with coats, jackets, and book bags, sets a toy chest filled to the brim with stuffed animals. It sets on an old green shag rug, that has been there as long as i can remember and is spotted with dirty clothes. Stuffed bears, cats, horses, penguins, bunnies, and snowmen wait impatiently to come to life at night. Many miss their friends from the arcade, while others miss family from the store or the factory. Above my rack hangs my bulletin board, that wakes me every morning with that days notifications. It wakes me with bright green, blue, and silver duct tape.

As you look at my walls you will see colorful posters that have wild animals waiting to be free, someday. Leaning on one of those walls is my daybed, looking blue. It is sad that it won't go many places and see many things. Next to my bed sits a dark wood nightstand. On top of it an alarm clock lays there glowing red and a lamp with empty duct tape rolls on it. On the shelves sit many books. I have the The Candy Makers, Pie, The Kicks, The Origami Yoda series, and The Get Real series. If you keep looking around you will see my bright blue dresser. On top of my dresser sits a white box, in that white box is my collection of flattened pennies. I have 63 pennies from many places. I have some from The San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Legoland, California, Henry Doorly Zoo, Reptile Gardens, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Disneyland, I even have some from Ohio. I started collecting them when I was 6.I hope to never quit collecting. I am rich beyond measures.

My Run

"Life is great when you run,"  Mr. Morrow. This is a six word story that describes athletes. I may not be an athlete but, I just took a 30 min. walk/run. I am trying to get used to the 5 min. run at volleyball. If you run for 5 min. and walk the rest of the way, you get a great work out.
